I love a good road trip - now! 10+ years ago that would be hilarious coming from me. The person that couldn't tell you East from West even looking at the ocean, or even on her best day couldn't make the 'long' drive from LA to Orange County. Road trip? Please! Now I have no problem driving 100 miles for a hamburger or 40 for a cupcake. I'd drive to Palm Springs on a whim or even Arizona for a ride in a hot air balloon at dusk. I'd make the trek to Santa Barbara just to see my favorite yoga teacher or Mexico for a new coffee shop. I think that's in part my fascination with WildFire and apps similar to it - no matter where you are you have what you want, need at your disposal.
Just cruising through La Jolla on a Sunday afternoon and decided to check out Vida Pilates studio. This quaint spot tucked off Pearl St was easy to miss, in fact I almost drive right past it. This studio offers you the boutique feel of a limited class size but the affordability to a larger chain.
Our class was properly titled Ultimate Abs + Butts and we did work just that. Our teacher, Maddy was phenomenal, engaging, charismatic and helpful. She offered lots of adjustments, modifications and encouragements to get us through those sticky moments. Reminding us that we're only in this sequence for a few moments not minutes (because that seems longer).
At seven students the room was packed, it's awesome to see other weekend warriors hitting the gyms and studios early, getting our sweat on so we can indulge the rest of the day away.
The studio was charming, clean and cozy; with tea and coffee available to the guest and a decent amount of retail to peak your interest. I didn't feel overwhelmed or underwhelmed by the surroundings. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.
