Well remember what I mentioned yesterday about the two steps to yoga? Well, today was an excellent day to incorporate just that. Day 2 of my 30 day challenge and I've already hit a road block. What do you do when YOU show up [for yoga] but your teacher does not? You DETACH from the outcome. :-) Thank you Nina.
I was determined to make it to class on time, the studio of choice today was half way across town but I knew I could make it. I finished up a meeting, jumped in my car and sped to the studio, of course obeying all lights and rules of the road. Only to discover there is no class. The door is locked and no one is home. Apparently I didn't get the memo. :-(
Talk about a disappointment, don't they know how much gas cost these days? Instead of getting mad however I used this opportunity to take a breath and congratulate myself on the fact that... "I" did not give up. I didn't look at my clock or the distance in between and decide to put off doing yoga today - no. I made a commitment to myself and to YOU that for 30 days I would take on this challenge and I will do just that.
So the moral of this story is, today my yoga took place outside of a studio. It consisted of breathing, stillness and mindfulness (in my car), reflection and acceptance. Without a daily practice who knows how this day could have turned around.
Tomorrow will be better. Another studio. Another day. Another WildFire experience!
