I am exhausted. I have spent the last week on a whirlwind, of laughter, cooking, dancing, singing, learning about new cultures and traveling the world without leaving my city. Where did I go, Vista. A beautiful suburb of North County San Diego. Filled with citrus and avocado trees, rolling hills and rooftop deck yoga! I had an unique pleasure of working with Azul Fit an international Pilates and yoga retreat company. Based out of Fuerteventura, Spain in the Canary Island this amazing family owned company has now opened a third location in Vista, CA. This week featured a full itinerary of pilates, amazing food, beach activities and even a bit of yoga thrown in. We entertained six wonderful women from as far as London and Canada to Tennessee. At any given time you could hear french spoken down the halls, or Jamie explaining the dialect from the Isle of Wight. We dined on fresh, organic fruit, local avocados, gluten free pastries and breads, exotic salad and tofu dishes and the most fantastic (and not so guilt ridden) desserts. Life has been really good these past few days.
Today however I am tired and I suspect it's going to take a little more than a good nights sleep to recoup. My head hurts, I feel a bit disoriented and just out of sorts - kind of like a hangover but in this case purely caused by joy. I have spent the last 7 days on a high unlike any other, feverishly making sure that everyone and everything is perfect, and soaking up every moment to cherish. I'm not complaining, if I had to choose I would definitely do it again.
There is something truly special about retreats. Whether it's to heal, to restore or maybe just a break from the kids; you know that you're all there for a reason and that is your connection. I didn't have to travel far for this retreat, it was literally in my backyard but some of these women did and today they return home, a little bit happier, and with a whole lotta knowledge of how to take care of their bodies, love their bodies, eat well and take time for themselves.
I am privileged to have been apart of this week and can't wait for more of these to come. I made a new friend and learned a lot of about myself and more about what Eat.Drink.Yoga. can mean to others.
Now, on to the next adventure!
