A wise person would probably not sign up for a class called Butts + Guts. A wise person would in fact turn and run the other way. I suppose I am the odd one here because I walked right into it. Even with a title like Butts + Guts I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I figured as much though that a yoga mat would not be needed.
Butts + Guts is a serious class - 60 minutes of non-stop moving, loud music and a coach equally strong as beautiful. In fact a lot of the people who hang out at Fit in Solana Beach are beautiful - real and surgically enhanced.
Fit is just that, you walk up to the place and immediately feel like you're walking into a trendy resort or a place that belongs on Sunset Blvd. It's swanky and looks like money. Of course the rows of Benz, BMW, Land Rovers and Aston Martins don't hurt either. My initial question was, 'do people really come here to sweat or just socialize?" Because I've been to those places too. Don't forget, I'm an LA girl - land of silicon, fancy cars and false perception.
Fit is glamorous to a point, it pretty much stops at the door. Inside you'll find serious weight lifters with shoulder muscles up to their ears, benching 100's of pounds on the floor. Athletes training and grunting in the cross fit section, Cyclist racing to the imaginary finish line in the glow-light spin room and hardcore chicas (and men) pounding it out with boxing gloves in the outside bag area.
Fit has something for everyone - not to mention an assortment of delicious drinks, food (vegan, raw and Paleo) and bottled smoothies by Beaming (my fav smoothie bar). Worth the Butts + Guts - sure! The class was hard hitting and the space definitely delivers at a high level.
