It seems that Yoga, Pilates and Cross-fit are staples here in San Diego - and although I do not have any plans to venture into a cross-fit studio I can definitely mosey into a Pilates class or two. I happen to be a fan of Pilates, I've long loved the beauty, precision and technicality of working on a reformer and the resistance and strength needed from working on the mat. In my opinion Pilates is also a great accompaniment to my yoga practice - while both work on toning, and lengthening the body one takes care of my mind and spirit while the other tends to my core, back and posture.
So, it's Day 3 and I'm using my WildFire app to introduce you to (what has very quickly become) a San Diego homegrown, 'Big Fish' story/company. Club Pilates. Founded and created by Allison Beardsley in 2007, Allison is a California Pilates teacher with big vision. She saw a need in the Pilates industry, to bring the benefits of a regular Pilates routine, with excellent instructors, a beautiful studio to the masses. The best part - she wanted to give 'everyone' the opportunity of training on a Pilates Reformer. Up till then the average Pilates Reformer class could run you $50+ for a drop in.
Club Pilates opened with much success and quickly spread like a "Wild Fire" (no pun intended) throughout the San Diego area. Franchises were offered in 2012 and Pilates lovers across the globe started swooping them up. Those passionate about Pilates see the value in bringing top notch equipment, trainers and affordable class pricing to their community. With 37 locations worldwide and 62 more on the way - Club Pilates is taking the world by storm in a very good way.
I thoroughly enjoyed my class tonight, it was challenging, fun and all though I could have done without the 80s music it did help keep my mind off my twitching thighs and burning biceps. Our trainer, Randi knew her stuff! She kept us safe and engaged the whole 60 minutes. I am officially sore from head to toe and yet so excited for what tomorrow brings!
