If you've ever wondered what it's like to fly, Baja Body has the class for you. Anti-gravity Decompression Session is a class offered daily at Baja Body - it's a one hour class completely done in a swing. By swing of course, I mean an extra large silk wrap hanging from the ceiling. This is by far one of the coolest things I've done in a yoga class probably ever, not to mention terrifying. Being a newbie you realize pretty quickly that you're completely entrusting your safety and sanity to a piece of fabric hanging from the ceiling by a hook, but you also realize that you're either the only one that's paranoid or the only one with some sense in the class.
The instructor guides you through the class with directions like grip 6 handfuls of fabric, grab the end furthest from you and pull, swing the fabric in front of you then kick your foot into the crease. These are not the best, most descriptive but you realize they work. Before you know it you find yourself hanging upside down bat style and loving it.
This class has been on my radar for a while but today just seemed like the perfect day to take a gander and try it. I'm so glad I did - this was definitely a get out of your comfort zone kind of class. Baja Body is a very unique studio - did I mention classes are done in sand? Their space is near the beach and convenient to the I-5 and 78 freeway. My recommendation, grab some friends, take flight then head to Dang Coffee for a smoothie or coffee - the perfect afternoon!
Tomorrow we hit Solana Beach for some Baby Got Back... more on that later... :-)
