I've been toying with this idea of comfort, security, stability - in my life, and my practice. It's common to hear a yoga teacher talk about finding balance on the four corners of your feet, to find comfort within the four corners of your mat and security in the four corners of the space. But what if the security, balance and even comfort you crave is beyond those four corners?
I think we've all heard in life, at one time or another, that everything you want is outside your comfort zone. That to do big things, make huge leaps and be the person who can handle the abundance that comes with it - requires growth; but growth requires stepping up.
When we play a bigger game, we get bigger rewards. it's so easy to get stagnate and complacent. In fact, I know that we all see-saw between those feelings of frustration and restlessness. So where is the happy medium? If everything we want is outside our comfort zone then the reasonable conclusion would be step outside it.
As I write this I realize that the answer is there. Every time you start to feel restless it's because it's time to grow. When it's time to grow you immediately feel that rush of panic and fear because the space you hold is no longer enough. You then make a decision to stay or go and that decision is ALL yours.
The four corners that support us on our mat are perfect but in life that box is not. It's not there to be the end all but merely a waiting station for the next transition. Even when you feel stuck you're being planted only for a moment, a season. Until you have the clarity, the will, the guts to get out of your way and make a change.
- still figuring it out... Brandi
